Stewarding the history of the Reformation to glorify God and increase our joy in Him.

The Bible

The legacy of the Bible encompasses various aspects of cultural, spiritual, and literary influence. One significant development is the creation of new translations. The Bible's impact extends to academic studies, with courses exploring its influence on topics like land, popular culture, art, political theory, and broader cultural issues.

The legacy of the Bible stands as a cornerstone of Western thought and culture, extending far beyond its religious significance, shaping language, law, and morality across centuries. During the Reformation, this legacy took a pivotal turn, as reformers sought to return to the Scriptures as the sole authority for faith and practice.

Figures like William Tyndale played an instrumental role in this movement, striving to make the Bible accessible to all by translating it into English. Tyndale’s efforts, for which he paid with his life, laid the foundation for later translations like the King James Bible, which not only enable common access to divine revelation but also profoundly influenced the English language. Through the Reformation, the Bible became not merely a book for the learned clergy but a text for the common man, a beacon of truth that challenged the authority of the Roman Catholic Church and ushered in a new era of spiritual and intellectual freedom.

History of the English Bible

The history of the English Bible is dramatic. Its course is long and painful. Many ages and many hands were evidently necessary. Such was the opposition to unloose the Word of God in the English tongue that more than a few paid for it with blood.

We Celebrate Christ!

We celebrate the Reformation to make much of Christ, not the Reformation. We do not venerate men. We acknowledge God's gifting and mighty work through instruments of His choosing, for His glory. We worship God alone and praise Him for His grace towards us through this pivotal history that unleashed the gospel afresh on a dark and forgetful world.

Our purpose is to steward the history of the Reformation to glorify God and increase our joy in Him.
